What a total pro Sam is. I had the pleasure of working with Sam, Dan and Doriana on a video project, which told the stories of our Deliveroo partners. On the day, I as really impressed with how slick Matchbox Film Co’s operations were – with ease they set up and before I knew it, we were rolling the interview and b-roll. Sam’s style of direction is one you have total faith in – I could tell he had taken the time to understand our business and the questions we wanted to ask. His attention to detail was something I’d like to particularly highlight – he would ask a question and then depending on the interviewee’s answer, he would ask them to repeat if it needed to be clearer, or if he would need them to reword what they said, incorporating the question into the answer – it was amazing to see him be the director but also have that editor mindset. I started working with the Matchbox team at the beginning of 2023 with the ‘simple’ task of 14 hospitality edits for the Cheltenham Festival filmed over 4 days with 1month notice – a challenging brief most would say. But Sam & the whole team were fantastic from the word go, efficiently planning the shoot days to maximise the time we had & capture some fantastic content. Since then I have sent the team to a further 4 events adding in interviews & drone flights along the way. I have always had full confidence in Sam & the team he selects as a group of highly professional & knowledgable camera operators. The team are great to work with & all bring their own flair to the shots they capture, quickly understanding & interpreting the brief. Sam’s edits have also been fantastic, adapting to the different types of hospitality on offer to showcasing the style of area – high energy & party vibes through to fine dining. I was blown away with the quality of the final output from the recordings the Matchbox team provided for a new series of sports nutrition video podcasts for our brand Danone GetPRO in their studio in Bath. The lighting, sound quality and overall ‘vibe’ of the videos was top class, and the studio was comfortable enough to spend an entire day recording in.
The team worked with us to ensure the whole day ran smoothly, helping refine our recording schedule, putting our guests at ease, offering creative advice or pointers, and generally making the entire day a great experience for us and the podcast guests.
